Atom A Jr Pats start off their league play with a bang…

2013-10-23

First league game for Atom A Jr Pats...

The Jr Patriots were heading in to their first league game with a 2 and 1 record in the pre-season. Finishing their pre-season play with a 4-2 win over the Amherst Ramblers, the Shediac/Cap-Pele team now set their focus on league play.

The Pats travelled to Sackville to take on the Sackville Rangers.  Not knowing much about their opposition, the game plan was to fore check and effectively break-out out of the defensive zone.  Since there was a media blackout in effect, few details of the game were available. However, the word on the street is that the Pats came out strong and never let up. A few modifications to the line-up did not diminish the Jr Pats fire power. Outscoring the Ranger by a score of 7-1, the Pats showed that are ready for their up coming season.

Later that evening, defensive coach Serge Richard appeared on RDS’s Antichambre and had this to say: “A key to a good offense is a strong defence. We had to modify our defensive line-up due to injuries, but it was still strong enough to keep the opposition’s offence at bay.”
